Antarctica
Absolutely stunning film from Swedish filmmaker Kalle Ljung and co. Who've created this incredible short film made entirely from drone footage of Antarctica. They spent 16 days filming, capturing the unreal sense of isolation and stillness, as well as documenting magical moments with a family of whales. Beautiful.

British Airways: Visit Mum
This is a lovely film from B.A. encouraging people to visit their Mum. It tells the story of a mother in India who speaks of the pain of separation that has been caused by not seeing her son who now lives in New York since he was 17. With the emotional role that the airline can play in connecting families in modern times. Its a real tear jerker.

as i mentioned on here before when ddb and philips launched there small film competition. sir ridley scott has picked a winner of the competition attached to ddb london's recent parallel lines ad campaign for philips, which invited viewers to make a short film in response to the project. keegan wilcox has come out on top with his film Porcelain Unicorn...

lauren dicioccio - hand sewn
lauren dicioccio embroiders common objects that are fragile or becoming obsolete. in her words, she uses "tedious handiwork and obsessive care" in an effort to "provoke a pang of nostalgia for the familiar physicality of these objects." in her series called sewnnews she encases newspapers in muslin and selects a powerful image to embroider. she also embroiders plastic bags and 35mm slides. i would love to see them all up-close.

philips are doing some really cool stuff at the moment. ddb london's new campaign for philips, briefed five rsa directors create a series of short films all using the same script. the unusual campaign, which follows the much-admired philips carousel work, sees ddb london collaborate with rsa to create a series of films that aim to emphasise philips' cinematic qualities. six lines of dialogue were written by ddb and five directors (greg fay, johnny hardstaff, carl erik rinsch, Jake scott and hi-sim) have turned them into five very different films.

interesting project from photographer / filmographer adam hinton, who has spent time in the indian dharavi slum (where slumdog millionaire was filmed) photographing, living and filming the area and its culture. each spot interviewed and photographed has been meticulously plotted on a map with longitude / latitude plots.

reliving the 90s
at the recording studio muse music they are doing an awesome collaboration and creative project started by drew danbury called "reliving the '90s" where they play covers and record video episodes from the 1990s by local music artists. apart from it being a lovely trip down memory lane for some old classics, the filming is beautiful.

films
there is so much i want to see at the moment, avatar, sherlock holmes (robert downey jr is just looking hot in those posters covering the metro at the moment), wes andersons fantatic mr fox and of course you can't miss a couple of good old chick flicks, meet the morgans (what could be better than the pairing of sarah jessica parker and hugh grant?!), and its complicated (meryl, woo!), there's too much! and lastly but not least, im dying to see what tom fords like as a director on a single man.
