tennis inspired fashion
the world seems to be going a little tennis mad, which makes for some light relief from the footie after eventually the historical match between isner and mahut has ended, the longest tennis match in wimbledon history! i can't imagine playing 182 games lasting 11 hours and five minutes? wow. it did bring up some rather comical reaches for the ball though. it seems even jean paul gaultier has got a keen eye on the game at the moment after seeing his collection for hermes, spring 2010.

rude britannia : british comic art
this new exhibition at the tate looks really cool, i need to try to get back to london to see this. put together with some the country’s best-known cartoonists and comedy writers, this exhibition explores british comic art from the 1600s to the present day. bringing together a wide array of paintings, sculptures, film and photography, as well as graphic art and comic books, the exhibition celebrates a rich history of cartooning and visual jokes.

praça cantão, favela painting
it is not only dulux who has created these vibrant street scenes, dutch artists jeroen koolhaas and dre urhahn created their first ‘favela painting‘ back in 2006 and yielded two murals which were painted in vila cruzeiro, rio’s most notorious slum. this time their back on a monumental scale – unveiling a 7,000sqm art intervention that sees 34 houses, on the giant hillside favela of praça cantão, given a beautifully vivid overhaul…

durex : lets colour
“grey is out. gloom is gone” is the mantra that dulux’s ‘let’s colour‘ team have been taking around the world for the last few weeks. the community focused project have seen car parks, schools, streets and squares transformed from dull, oppressive, grey spaces into areas of eye-poppingly vivid colour… enlightening the locals with the team’s passion as they go.

the portrait machine project
the portrait machine project is a series of photos by carlo van de roer that are made with a polaroid aura camera. the camera was made in the 1970s by a scientist in an attempt to record what a psychic might see. the results are absolutely beautiful.
