speechbreaker
"gordan brown will party with our wives, stroke the balls of our pensioners..." says david cameron in a short film created using speechbreaker - a new online toy created by leanmeanfightingmachine in which you can piece together various words uttered by the three main uk political party leaders at their recent party conferences. when you've constructed your "speech" from the available words, you can preview how it will sound and look before either sending the film to a friend by email or uploading it to the speechbreaker youtube channel. playing with david cameron and gordan browns speeches can be more than amusing, however, the party opposition, nick clegg, noticably only has political and sensored words for us to play with, making it more than likely that this online toy was sponsored by the lib dems, and very cleverly makes sure that the clegg does not mention anything bad about the other two parties, we do. clever bit of viral advertising.

bear : naked nature
loving the branding and packaging design done for bear, its absolutely adorable, looks organic, and healthy. created by b&b studio.
joanna basford
joanna basfords hand drawn illustrations are beautiful, but what is even more interesting than her actual work is the way she is going about promoting herself at the moment. a few weeks ago, she custom illustrated a copy of creative review, and sent it into the magazine in hope of exposure, she didn't get into the magazine, but she managed to get a huge post on their blog about the work she has been doing. and now she is starting an intersting little project on twitter, which she is calling 'twitter picture' which will be running over the next couple of days (wed 14th & thurs 15th oct). where she will allow twitter users to tweat in suggestions to inspire an entirely twitter based, limited edition screen prints. what a smart way of getting her name out there, and to be seen by a huge audience, otherwise unaware. it will be intersting to see what somes of it, and if any other illustrators / artists take inspiration from this idea. definitely one to watch, even just for her promotional skills.

piano stairs vs escalator
living art
this is interesting, i wonder if this is the way magazines are going, or do you think that all paper magazines / newspapers will be made redundant soon, and it will all be on the internet?
digital wallpaper by strukt
the basic idea was to light up the black and white striped office wall by mapping the architecture with multiple projectors. the program developed by strukt is scripted in vvvv and is scalable to any number of projectors and any architectural shape. several different visualisations have been realised already, amongst it a pac man animation as well as moving stripes, and more are in development. the content could also be made interactive, reacting to people passing the ground-floor offices. the hardware is courtesy of concept solutions vienna.

fail harder
what a beautiful piece of work at w&k portland, created by wieden & kennedy 12. over 100,000 thumb nails were used and it took over 351 hours, but it just goes to show if you try hard enough, and keep going, you can make something exceptional.

new zealand breast cancer foundation
the new campaign for the new zealand breast cancer foundation generating awareness about the importance of an early detection of breast cancer, inflatables in the shape of tumors were placed in the streets, in the middle of people’s way. the campaign’s claim was “the longer you wait, the bigger the problem gets.” its kind of disgusting looking, but definitely gets the point across.
