films
there is so much i want to see at the moment, avatar, sherlock holmes (robert downey jr is just looking hot in those posters covering the metro at the moment), wes andersons fantatic mr fox and of course you can't miss a couple of good old chick flicks, meet the morgans (what could be better than the pairing of sarah jessica parker and hugh grant?!), and its complicated (meryl, woo!), there's too much! and lastly but not least, im dying to see what tom fords like as a director on a single man.
chalk board interiors
how nice do these look in homes. loving the idea of creating your own piece of art or writing a quote or recipe every different day if you like.

andrew hem : cambodia
i love all things to do with cambodia, so coming across the work of andrew hem was a little exciting this morning. in this anticipated solo project, hem confronts the viewer with themes of history and tragedy based on his native cambodia. influenced by the idea of the "butterfly effect", where small differences in decisions or movements can produce large variations in the long-term outcome of events, hem creates a series of "what if" scenarios where one storyline diverges at the moment of a seemingly minor event resulting in two significantly different outcomes. in this case the artist imagines if the violent Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia had never taken power and how the lives of the people would have been altered. hem's paintings return to acrylic after several shows of using oil in order to create a more fluid and layered effect. the detailed characters portrayed are layered over hauntingly sublime backgrounds of a past that has been re-imagined based on the "butterfly effect" and leads to the title of the show: one leads to another.

Blu Dot Real Good Experiment from Real Good Chair on Vimeo.

curb
the worlds first natural media company, curb offer a range of highly effective media solutions solely using natural earth elements. if natural marketing impacts consumers without impacting on the environment i guess its going to grow and grow in popularity. i think its cool, would definitely be fun to do something like this.
times square in the snow

cannon : the story behind the still

The Story Beyond the Still - Behind The Scenes from Vincent Laforet on Vimeo.

this is pretty interesting, i might just have to get my new little slr out and have a go... can't wait to see how it all turns out. the basic idea being that each video chapter will start with and end with a still image… you need to interpret the previous photographer/filmmaker’s still to start the (your) subsequent chapter (those are pretty much the only rules/guidelines (outside of the obvious))… should make for a pretty unique series of chapters in the end!

buenos aire's posters
i can`t get enough of these posters... they represent 48 of buenos aire's neighbourhoods, and each and everyone of them were designed by a different artist. all they had to do was catch the concept of the area, and transform its history and mood into an illustration. see more here.
prague bookstore
this stunning new ad campaign for the prague bookstore, anagram produced by kaspan advertising agency is beautifully crafted, if a little similar to the new zealand book competition i blogged about previously.
design can save the world
i did a project on the lack of clean water in india, so it was interesting to see this new design solution; the hippo roller by project h design, a simple barrel of recycled materials, grooved for traction and designed to roll over rough terrain using a simple push handle. the hippo rollers sides taper up at the ends to minimize its contact with the ground, making it easier to roll. the top and bottom of the barrel are rounded so that the barrel can be tilted upright with less effort than a barrel with a flat bottom. its such a simple solution to a very basic problem, but can make a huge difference to peoples lifestyle.
